John Ruple, research professor of law and director of the Wallace Stegner Center’s Law and Policy Program at the University of Utah S.J Quinney College of Law, has spent the past two years serving as Senior Counsel in the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) where he provided legal advice on a range of issues involving federal public land management and preservation, mining law and critical mineral supply chain reform, transnational water pollution control, and National Environmental Policy Act review implementation. Professor Ruple will provide a short overview of the Executive Office of the President (EOP) and the CEQ, and then take a closer look at the process for designating the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument.
